ANOTHER crime of passion was reported last week – one in Manus island on Wednesday and the second in Madang on Friday.
Madang commander Supt Mazuc Rubiang said a female nurse was stabbed to death by the wife of a man who allegedly had an affair with.
Police identified the deceased as Moreen Robert from Dei who worked in Western Highlands’ Hagen town clinic.
The extra marital affair had forced the nurse and her child to flee from their house and rent a place in Sagalau for a month.
The murder suspect, who worked in a tuna canning factory, was told that the nurse was having lunch with her husband at home.
She rushed home and stabbed the nurse in the abdomen.
The nurse was pronounced dead on arrival at the Modilon Hospital.
Supt Rubiang said the murder suspect surrendered to Constable Jessy Mon who also picked up the suspect who informed the wife that her husband was having lunch with the nurse.
Both were detained in the Jomba police station lock-up.
Supt Rubiang reminded the public not resort to violence and take the law into their own hands because of dire consequences.
“Just report to the police if you think things are not right and let us handle it,” he added.
In the earlier case, a man suspected of having an affair with a married woman was allegedly stabbed by her husband in Manus.
