Pastor charged with raping adopted daughter who’s his niece
PORT MORESBY: A 50-year-old pastor in Papua New Guinea (PNG)’s Lae was committed to stand trial in the National Court for raping his niece whom he had adopted.
The pastor had adopted the girl when she was 1 ½ years old, after his sister died. He started raping the girl when she was 12 between Jan 1 and Sept 30, 2015.
The following year, the girl was found pregnant and has given birth to a baby who is now two.
In the same court, another man, 51, was also charged with raping hjs 15-year-old niece between August and September last year.
Are these two rapists human beings or animals?

Pastor to stand trial for rape
By JIMMY KALEBEA 50-YEAR-OLD pastor in Lae has been committed to stand trial in the National Court for allegedly raping his niece whom he had adopted.
The pastor had adopted the girl, then 1 ½ years old, after his sister died. The pastor allegedly raped the girl ,when she was 12, between Jan 1 and Sept 30, 2015, in Talis Corner at West Taraka, Lae, and in Wau at Bulolo, Morobe.
The following year, the girl was found pregnant at 13 when she was a Grade 6 primary schoolgirl in Lae. She has given birth to a baby who is now two years old and the victim will be turning 16 this year. Kupo ruled that there was sufficient evidence to commit the pastor from Ijivitari, Northern, to stand trial at the National Court on Aug 9. The pastor is charged under Section 229D (1) (6) of the Criminal Code (Sexual Offence & Crimes against Children) Act, 2002.
In another case on Monday, Kupo committed a 51-year-old man from Kongi village in Daulo, Eastern Highlands, to appear at the National Court for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl.
The man allegedly raped the girl between August and September 2018 in the village. Police investigations revealed that the victim was left by her mother under the care of The man who is the husband of the victim’s aunty (the mother’s biological sister).
The man allegedly raped the girl three times and threatened to kill her if she revealed the crimes.
The girl found herself pregnant and did not know what to do until some women from the village asked her. She then revealed the man responsible for her pregnancy.
The matter was reported to the village law and order committee and the man was asked to pay K1,500 to the victim and her family.
He then fled to Lae where he was arrested by police.
The man will appear for trialat the National Court in Lae on Aug 9.
