Trio take turns to rape 12-year-old girl

PORT MORESBY: Three men who took turns to rape a 12-year-old girl in Manus was described by police as animals and “people who are sick in their head”.

Police have nabbed one of the rapists and two others are on the run.

The duo have been advised to surrender to the police or face the full brunt of the law in a manhunt.

By ROSELYN ELLISONMANUS police have arrested one of three men who allegedly took turns to rape a 12-year-old girl in Ward 1, Lorengau, on July 14.
Describing the men as animals and “people who are sick in their head”, police commander Chief Insp David Yapu advised the two on the run to surrender.
Yapu said a 22-year-old man was charged with raping the girl and was remanded in the Lorengau Prison by the Lorengau district court .
The girl told police on Monday that she was forced out of her house on Sunday by a man who took her to his house and allegedly raped her.
He then took her to another house where another man also raped her.
The second man then took the girl to another man who repeated the offence.
She was released at 5am on Monday. Yapu said three men allegedly threatened to kill her if she resisted. Police identified the suspect who was from Kari Village in Lorengau.
“We have the identities of the two still at large and hope to arrest them soon.
“Surrender or face the full brunt of the law (when we hunt you down),” he added.
