PM Marape retains Tari-Pori for a 4th term in 11th Parliament

PORT MORESBY: Prime Minister James Marape has retained Hela’s Tari-Pori seat for a fourth consecutive term after securing 40,913 votes, which was well past the absolute majority of 30,635-plus-one.

He was declared the winner at about 5pm yesterday (July 10, 2022) by Tari-Pori Elections Returning Officer Willie Kara in the presence of Hela Elections Manager John Tipa , Hela Governor Philip Undialu, counting officials, observers and security officers.

It was the first seat of the 118 in total being contested in General Election 2022 (GE22) to declare its winner.
