Rape-murder suspect shot, wounded and nabbed

PORT MORESBY: Police have shot and wounded a rape-murder suspect in Madang on Monday.

Commander Acting Supt Mazuc Rubiang said the suspect allegedly killed the Kawas family and two others in Sihian village on March 28, 2019, and was involved in a series of crimes since 2014.

POLICE in Madang say they shot and wounded a suspect last Monday who was wanted for allegedly murdering a family and committing a series of crimes in the province.
Provincial police commander acting Superintendent Mazuc Rubiang said the male suspect was alleged to have been involved in the murder of the Kawas family and two others at Sihian village on March 28, 2019, and believed to have been involved in a series of crimes since 2014.
Rubiang said the man was suspected for the murder of Kori Kawas (father), Melib Kawas (mother), 20-year-old Greg Kawas (son), Kenny Mai and Edwina Amus.
Rubiang said he was suspected for the rape of Edwina before killing her in front of her husband on March 28, 2019.
He also tried to rape another woman.
The PPC said the suspect had gone into hiding after committing the crimes.
Rubiang said police acting on information went to the suspects hide out on Monday night and shot him when he tried to resist arrest.
Rubiang said the suspect was then taken to Modilon hospital for medical attention and would be charged once released.
