Papua New Guinea Correctional Services released the above eight pictures of Bomana Prison fugitives and appealed to the public to help track them down.

PORT MORESBY: Police have recaptured a Tommy Baker Gang member who broke out of Bomana Prison with 16 others on Thursday (Aug 26, 2021).

Asigau Tau Rakatani a.k.a Jack Asigau Rakatani who was brought to Port Moresby in 2019 after the shooting of lawyer Michael Efi, was captured in Badili on Monday (Aug 30, 2021).

He is the second Bomana fugitive to be recaptured.

POLICE have recaptured a Tommy Baker Gang member who broke out of Bomana Prison with 16 others on Thursday.
Asigau Tau Rakatani, also known as, Jack Asigau Rakatani, who was brought to Port Moresby in 2019 after the shooting of lawyer Michael Efi, was captured in Badili on Monday evening.
He is the second fugitive from Bomana Prison to be recaptured.
Correctional Services Commissioner Stephen Pokanis confirmed the recapture and said prison wardens were working round the clock to round up the fugitives.
“An officer has been suspended and we are conducting our own independent investigation to determine what happened,” Pokanis said.
“The remaining 15 escapees on the run are dangerous.
“Again, the message to all families and friends, they must report to the nearest police station if any of the fugitives are sighted.”
Rakatani was part of 13 men brought from Milne Bay’s Alotau by police investigators.
He was one of six charged with murder over the shooting of Efi and the death of Patricia Mala and her son Zaka Kingston who were killed in the fire that gutted eight police units in the evening of Jan 26, 2019.
