by two murder suspects on Tuesday.
“The murder suspects, wielding bush knives, wounded Const Jacob Kamira’s right hand and he also suffered multiple injuries on his body,” East New Britain police commander Chief Insp Joseph Tabali said.

He said the attack occurred between 2.30pm and 3pm in Pomio’s Katap village.
Chief Insp Tabali identified the two murder suspects as Jim and Micha Kosel, from Katap.
“The duo were captured with the help of Pomio MP Elias Kapavore and ward members who handed them to the police,” the police chief said.
“They will be transported to Kokopo Police Station.
“When the two murder suspects attacked Const Kamira, they also grabbed an AP 15-round 16 rifle but it was retrieved the same
day.

“Const Kamira was airlifted from Palmalmal to Tokua on Wednesday and admitted to the Nonga General Hospital.”
Jim and Micha were charged with attempted murder and will appear before the Kokopo District Court magistrate as soon as they are brought from Palmalmal to Kokopo early next week.
“I want to warn the public in East New Britain not to attack policemen and women,” Chief Insp Tabali said.
“They are here to enforce law and order.
“If you are not happy, come see me.
“I will not hesitate to come down hard on those attacking my police officers.”
