A MAN who allegedly killed his brother after accusing him of practising sorcery is facing a charge of wilful murder, police say.
East New Britain police commander Chief Insp Joseph Tabali said three others were also facing the same charge.
They are detained at the Kerevat police station.
Police alleged that last Thursday at about 2pm at Radingi Block in Gazelle’s Inland-Baining local level government, Chris Polalla of Nut village in West New Britain was killed by his younger brother who accused him of practising sorcery.
Chief Insp Tabali said the younger brother had earlier approached Polalla’s wife and children in their garden, accusing them of practising sorcery, and chased them out of the garden.
When Polalla arrived, the brother started accusing him too.
He then went and brought three friends who then allegedly stoned Polalla and cut off his arms and left leg. He died instantly.
Chief Insp Tabali is appealing to the general public not to take the law into their own hands if they suspect someone of practising sorcery.
He advised them to stop drinking homebrew and smoking marijuana.
