A SECURITY guard of a prominent security firm in Port Moresby has been charged and detained over sexual offences relating to four female minors aged between five and 10 years old.
The man, whose name has been withheld to protect the victims, is a neighbour of the girls in Port Moresby and the girls are friends with the man’s daughter.
Waigani Committal Court Magistrate Paul Nii yesterday arraigned him on three counts of persistent sexual abuse and sexual penetration before adjourning the case to July 29. The man remains in custody at Bomana.
Police alleged that the man sexually abused three of the girls on numerous occasions and had sexually penetrated the fourth victim with his finger.
The girls could not identify the exact dates and time of the offences, but they stated that the alleged abuse started when they began schooling this year between Feb 1 and April 1.
The first victim, aged 10, alleged that the first offence occurred when she was playing outside her house.
The man went and told her to go with him but she refused.
The man then forcefully pulled her hand and took her into his house in his room and tried to have sex with her but she escaped.
The man sexually abused the girl again on two other occasions.
The second victim, aged eight, alleged that the man’s first offence against her occurred when she was playing outside the house.
The man had told her to go with him to his house so she could see and play with his daughter.
She went with him but the man took her into his room and had sex with her before telling her to leave.
It was alleged that the man did this on numerous occasions when the second victim went to play with the man’s daughter.
The third victim, aged five, alleged that whenever she went to play with the man’s daughter under his house, the man came and sat nearby and when no one was watching, he approached her and sexually penetrated her with his fingers.
She claimed that the man did this on many occasions but she was too scared to report it as she spent a lot of time playing with his daughter under his house.
The fourth victim, aged six, alleged that when she was playing with other children under the man’s house, he came and sexually penetrated her using his finger.
She felt hurt and ran away.
The man was locked up at the 6-Mile Police station and later transferred to the Boroko police station where he was arrested and charged with sexual offences and crime against children.
