For any developing country to progress, law and order must be solid to facilitate socio-economic growth.

Without law and order, investors will flee or foreign investors will shun from a country that is unable to guarantee a reasonable stability in law and order.

THE families of West Sepik Governor Tony Wouwou and his provincial administrator Conrad Tilau were terrorised and attacked in Vanimo yesterday and Tilau’s house burnt down. Wouwou said he and Tilau were in Port Moresby on government business when their families were attacked in the early hours of yesterday. “They came to my house first at about 1am and terrorised my family at Transmitter,” he said. “However, my neighbours fought and chased them away.“And at about 3am, Tilau’s house and three of his vehicles at Dasi were razed. “We believe that it must have been the same suspects who had confronted my family earlier on.” Wouwou believed the attack was related to an investigation into the misuse of K4 million from the provincial administration coffers earlier.“We will bring the PNG Fire Service officers to Vanimo to help the police investigate this incident,” he said. Tilau said: “I’m shocked but thankful that no one was hurt in the fire. “My daughter with her husband and our security guard were in the house when the house was set on fire and I thank the good Lord for saving them. “All our valuables, documents were lost in the fire. “At the moment, it is too early to know how the fire started. “However, I have been receiving threats since I got appointed for my tough stand against allegations of misappropriation of public funds.”
