Hubby kills wife in Wau Waria
PORT MORESBY: The murder of a woman, allegedly by her
husband, in a village in Wau Waria is one of Morobe’s first major crimes this
year, Acting Commander Chief Inspector John Daviaga says.
“The killing occurred during
a domestic quarrel last week,” he added.
The news break was published by The National:
THE murder of a woman, allegedly by her
husband, in a village in Wau Waria is one of Morobe’s first major crimes this
year, acting commander Chief Insp John Daviaga says.
“The killing occurred during a domestic quarrel last week,” Daviaga said.
He said the husband was now detained in a lock-up in Wau Police Station after
being charged with murder.
He said most major crimes towards the end of last year were from areas far off
from Wau town.
“Waria, over the last two months, has recorded two murder cases. One was in
late December where a young teacher was killed,” he said.
Daviaga said the suspect involved in the killing of the teacher had gone into
hiding.
Wau Police Station commander Senior Insp Peter Yambom said police had made
several attempts to rope in the suspects.
“Logistical support and other setbacks were hindering the arrest of suspects,”
he added.
Yambom said over the last few months, police had conducted a search in
communities, but “we have yet to reach out far and wide in the new district.
“People must adhere to law and order, only then can development come. It is up
to all parties concerned, local communities and their leaders to ensure there
is law and order,” he added.
