CABINET will decide whether Justice Secretary Dr Eric Kwa is going to be suspended, says Public Service Minister Joe Sungi.
Kwa is helping police investigate the death of a woman in a road accident he was involved in last October.
Sungi said a submission to suspend Kwa had been prepared and awaiting deliberation by the National Executive Council (NEC).
“In terms of disciplinary matters, we only provide the submission and from there the NEC deliberates. Right now, it has not been heard by the NEC yet,” he said.
Sungi told The National that the submission was in the form of a letter of suspension, supported by Personnel Management Department Secretary Taies Sansan.
He could not say when the NEC would discuss the matter.
He said the NEC deliberated on issues based on their urgency. And in his capacity as the public service minister, there were a number of issues he had to submit.
Last October, Kwa was involved in a fatal road accident in which Lucy Shirong, an officer from the Department of Justice and Attorney-General, died. Kwa has been cooperating with police on the investigation into the accident.
