Manning to quiz Justice Secretary Kwa on fatal car crash

PORT MORESBY: A communications breakdown with traffic police investigators is the cause for the delay in the fatal accident probe involving Justice Secretary Dr Eric Kwa.

“Kwa will be invited anytime this week for an interview by Police Commissioners David Manning,” Deputy Police Commissioner (Special Operations) Donald Yamsombi said.

He said Manning invited Kwa in December but the letter was not communicated with traffic investigators.

“The letter was renewed last week, so the interview should be this week,” he added.

A COMMUNICATIONS breakdown with traffic police investigators is the cause for the delay in the fatal accident probe involving Justice secretary Dr Eric Kwa.
“Kwa will be invited anytime this week for an interview by Police Commissioner David Manning,” Deputy Police Commissioner (special operations) Donald Yamasombi said.
Yamasombi said Manning invited Kwa in December but the letter was not communicated with traffic investigators.
“The letter was renewed last week, so the interview should be this week,” he said.
“The interview is for the police to decide whether an arrest will be made or not.”
Meanwhile, Public Services Minister Joe Sungi said last week that the Cabinet would decide whether Kwa would be suspended.
He said a submission had been prepared and awaiting deliberation by the National Executive Council.
It was alleged that Kwa was involved in a fatal accident in October along the Hiritano Highway in Central in which Lucy Shirong, an officer from the Justice and Attorney-General Department, died from injuries. Kwa, Shirong and an officer were travelling to Bereina to attend an official engagement with the Constitutional Law Reform Commission when they were allegedly attacked.
Kwa said in a statement issued last month that the accident was allegedly planned.
