Doc charged with killing wife Imelda denied bail

PORT MORESBY: The National Court in Mt Hagen on Thursday (June 17, 2021) denied bail for the doctor who is charged with killing his wife Imelda Tubi Taimanda on May 10, 2021.

THE National Court in Mt Hagen, Wester Highlands, has refused a bail application from the doctor who allegedly killed his wife from Mendi in Southern Highlands last month.
The National Court sitting in Mt Hagen on Wednesday refused the application by Dr Simon Temo.
He he will appear in court next Friday.
Temo, 40, along with Paul Ken, 27, and Nombe Kasu, 42, all from Mopa village in the Karinz local level government in Southern Highlands’ Mendi, are charged with the murder of Imelda Tubi Tiamanda.
Police prosecutor Sgt Paul Urangian said the trio were remanded at the Baisu jail awaiting their next court appearance.
“Their files are completed and they will be returning to court on June 25,” he said.
Police alleged that Temo had an argument with wife Tiamanda on May 10 in Mendi. He is alleged to have struck her with a hard object, fracturing her skull.
Tiamanda was at the University of Goroka when Temo picked her up on May 8 and took her to Mendi.
Following the killing, he body was wrapped in a blue canvas by Dr Temo and his accomplices.
They allegedly attempted to take it to Mt Hagen but police stopped them at a road block and arrested them.
They were detained at the Mt Hagen Police Station cell and remanded at Western Highlands’ Baisu jail after their first mention on May 14.
