COOK Island woman Vaine Marsters has been remanded in Giligili Prison, Alotau, Milne Bay, after her bail application was refused by the Alotau Committal Court on Thursday.
Marsters is facing six charges under the Firearms Act, Explosive Act and Migration Act.
Police investigators in Alotau confirmed that the 59-year-old from Rarotonga had been charged with being in possession of:

  • 20 rounds of ammunition;
  • A TELESCOPIC point 22 rifle;
  • 261 C4 explosives;
  • 247 9mm caliber live rounds;

  • HAVING an expired visa.

Police Commissioner David Manning told The National that last month, when Marsters was picked up, she led police to the explosives and igniters, ammunition and firearm.
He added that Marsters had been staying illegally in Papua New Guinea after her visa expired last Feb 4.
He said the uncovering of the explosives and ammunition followed a robbery that occurred in her house on Sept 5.
He said an investigation led by police intelligence officers from the National Capital District and the Southern mobile group special services division revealed the firearms and ammunitions were unregistered.
