Imelda’s alleged killers, hubby Dr Temo, two accomplices gone missing

PORT MORESBY: The doctor who allegedly killed his wife with two accomplices have gone into hiding.

ACP (Crime) Hodges Ette said policemen in Southern Highlands had yet to serve the ex-offio indictment charges on Dr Simon Temo, Ken Paulk and Nombre Kasu.

The trio went ionto hiding after being freed by the Mt Hagen district court last month during a committal hearing because state witnesses had failed to provide ample evidence to commit them for trial, including the post-mortem report that was unsigned.

The trio were arrested at a roadblock when police stopped their car and found the body of Temo’s wife wrapped in a blue canvas in the vehicle in May.

Temo’s wife, Imelda Tupi Tiamanda was a University of Goroka undergraduate.

POLICE are urging a doctor and the two men who helped him allegedly kill his wife to turn themselves in so that they can attend their trial scheduled for today.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crimes) Hodges Ette said police officers in Southern Highlands were yet to serve the ex-officio indictment charges on Dr Simon Temo, Ken Paul and Nombre Kasu.
The three went into hiding after being freed by the Mt Hagen District Court last month during a committal hearing because State witnesses had failed to provide ample evidence to commit them for trial on murder charges.
The Public Prosecutor, after consultation with police investigators and Commissioner David Manning, issued the ex-officio indictment, which means they should go straight to trial without any committal hearing.
ACP Ette yesterday urged the three men to respect the rule of law and turn themselves into the nearest police station, or the court in Mt Hagen.
ACP Ette said the police in Southern Highlands would be filing appropriate affidavits today should the trio be not in court, and possibly apply for a warrant of arrest.
“I appeal to them to turn themselves over to police.
“They have so far evaded police deliberately with the assistance of their sympathisers,” he said.
“I would like to warn family members, friends’ associates that aiding and abetting is a crime. Those found to be hiding and aiding the trio expose themselves to being arrested and charged, as well.
“I call on Dr Temo to take the lead as an educated elite of SHP, and a community clan and tribal leader to demonstrate leadership responsibility and accountability, and on his own free will come forward to the police.”
He said the arms of the law were long.
“You can run now but it will eventually catch up with you. It may be months or years but you will be arrested one day.”
Last month, the Mt Hagen District Court Magistrate Leonard Mesmin struck out the wilful murder charges against Temo, 40, Paul, 27, Kasu, 42 because he said the witnesses had failed to provide the evidence and facts of the alleged killing during the committal hearing.
The trio had been charged with murder and attempted disposal of the body of Dr Temo’s wife Imelda Tupi Tiamanda.
