30 houses razed over drunkard student who died falling off a bus

PORT MORESBY: More than 30 houses were razed in Dogea yesterday (Jan 4, 2022), all because a drunkard Grade 6 student fell off a bus and died two weeks ago.

This senseless retaliation by the student’s family members is certainly mind-boggling.

MORE than 30 houses were razed in Dogea yesterday following the death of a Grade 6 student about two weeks ago, Madang commander Acting Supt Mazuc Rubiang says.
“The primary school student was drunk and fell off a bus and died. Most of the fire victims were settlers from Usino staying in N6 and N7 blocks along the South Coast Road,” he added. Rubiang said the settlers tried to retaliate but quick response by police at the scene prevented anything untoward.
“We will still investigate and take all necessary actions against the arsonists because some innocent families had also lost their properties.
“Bus drivers and crews must be mindful of their passengers.
“Drunkards will bring problem to the vehicle which the owner will spend money even though it is not his fault.
“Alcohol was the cause of the death and families losing their houses,” he added.
