AN elementary school teacher was
beheaded in Zoptop, Madang, by known suspects who killed him as he was getting
off a public motor vehicle at his home on Friday.
Peter Kabu, a father of five, would have resumed duties this week.
His sister Madia Kabu told The National that he had just
signed his resumption form at the Education office in Madang town.
“He didn’t have enemies and all he did was get off the vehicle,” she said. The
Kabu family have asked for police to investigate and arrest the culprits who
killed their son and uncle.
According to what The National has uncovered, when the
suspects swung the bush knife, the deceased’s head rolled back into the truck.
The suspects got onto the truck and with the head in the truck with other
passengers, they continued the journey to their village several kilometres down
the road before the suspects got off and took the head with them. The head was
then impaled on a stick and left in the middle of the road.
The body of the deceased was laid out in the open on Friday afternoon until
Saturday morning when a soldier who knew the deceased heard what had happened
and retrieved the body.
He took the body to the Modilon General Hospital morgue.
Police confirmed the killing, and said they were investigating it.
Police said they had recovered the head of the deceased.
