However, the policeman who shot dead a 28-year-old Gaire market seller in Central was charged with murder on Tuesday (March 30, 2021) afternoon after interviews and a crime scene reconstruction were conducted. Gaire villagers should be pleased that they decided to remain calm and cool to allow police to investigate and act to ensure justice. The other case is the assault of a 17-year-old boy who sought refuge in the Gerehu poilce station in Port Moresby. PORT MORESBY:  Allegations of Coronavirus (Covid-19) fund abuses have surfaced and National Pandemic Response Controller and Police Comm David Manning is in an uncompromising mood. “I will not hesitate to conduct criminal investigations into allegations of provincial health authorities (PHAs) abusing funds allocated to fight the pandemic,” he warned. It is just unthinkable that Government allocations, read as people’s monies, for public health and to save lives could be siphoned off or stolen by anyone. Such sins are just unforgivable and the culprits cannot be let off, if they are found guilty. As the Covid-19 spike continue to mount in Papua New Guinea, the Government has also announced K1.745 billion for the Health Department to fight the pandemic.
