A 22-YEAR-OLD man was charged in the Waigani Committal Court yesterday with abducting a minor at knife-point and raping her thrice in his home in Tokarara, Port Moresby, on Feb 9.
Magistrate Garry Unjo arraigned Greg Rua, from Rigo’s Gunugau village in Central and ordered him to be remanded in Bomana Prison.
Rua was charged with deprivation of liberty, abduction and rape.
It was alleged that the girl was walking to a bus stop to return home from a clinic when Rua, armed with a knife, confronted and threatened the girl.
He then took her to his house where he undressed her, fondled her vagina and raped her three times.
Rua then packed the girl’s clothes in a bag and left, leaving her naked in the locked room.
The girl was allegedly held in captivity until Feb 13 when one of her cousins found out that she was in Rua’s house after seeing a post earlier on Facebook about the girl being missing.
The cousin told Rua to release the girl and police arrested him on Feb 15.
Rua will return to court on April 15 for mention.
