A MAN in Kimbe is in police custody after allegedly killing his wife last Friday.
West New Britain police commander Chief Inspector John Iara said the man from Chimbu was reported to have allegedly stabbed his wife after an argument.
Iara said the couple were oil palm block owners and long-time residents of the province.
He said the couple had earlier argued after the husband had allegedly wanted a polygamous marriage.
He said that the couple had been arguing for a while until the wife left to live with relatives.
“The day (Friday) she was murdered, the two met to go see their daughter on the final day of her exams,” he said.
Iara said when they left, they ended up getting into another argument concerning the husband’s demand for a polygamous marriage.
“The man stabbed her in the ribs. “She was rushed to the hospital but sadly passed on,” he said.
Iara described the husband’s actions as cruel and uncalled for.
The husband is now in police custody and awaiting his court appearance.
