Alleged ‘rough sex’ man freed from raping wife

PORT MORESBY: A 27-year-old man who allegedly inserted foreign objects into his wife’s vagina was freed of a rape charge by the Waigani committal court because police failed to complete its investigations.

Magistrate Alex Kalandi said despite police being given ample time to complete the files, they had failed to do so.

Besides inserting objects into his wife’s vagina, he also allegedly forced her to perform oral sex on him and an old woman, and had sex with the old woman in front of his wife.

A HUSBAND facing a rape charge against his wife was freed yesterday after the charge was struck out by the Waigani Committal Court because files were not ready.
Magistrate Alex Kalandi said despite police being given ample time to complete the files, they had failed to do so.
Moses Piaka, 27, of Abina village in Obura-Wonenara, Eastern Highlands, was alleged to have raped his wife Jenny Bani Endo by inserting coconut frond stalk and a gas lighter into her vagina without her consent.
Magistrate Kalandi, in discharging Piaka, said that there was enough time since he was arrested but the police had not done their part.
“You stap long kalabus longpela taim na polis no mekim sait bilong ol long rispond long dispela keis, so me straikim aut dispela keis (You were in custody for a long time and police had not done their part to respond to your case so I am striking it out).”
The police brief stated that on April 27 and April 28, between 10pm and 5pm, Piaka was at Iduiu-Agevairu village in Kairuku-Hiri, Central.
It was alleged that on those dates and times, the accused undressed his wife in their room, got a coconut frond stalk and hit her until it broke.
Piaka later allegedly ordered her to go and cut another stalk and inserted it into her vagina more than once and twisted it.
She screamed in pain. It was also alleged that he threatened and ordered her to lick the blood on the stalk and after seeing her in so much pain, he got a gas lighter and inserted it into her vagina again.
Endo felt dizzy and unconscious but she slowly recovered and escaped.
She contacted the Doa police on April 28 and reported the matter.
According to the brief, this was an ongoing issue that the victim was faced with since her marriage in 2018.
It was also alleged that Endo had gone through a violent and abusive life and all sorts of inhuman treatment by Piaka, including unnatural sexual intercourse.
Police alleged that on several occasions in 2019, he badly assaulted her and tried to kill her.
Last year, he allegedly sexually abused occasionally and penetrated her.
Piaka also allegedly ordered her to perform oral sex on him and an old woman.
He allegedly had sex with the old woman in front of Endo.
Piaka was reported to police, was arrested and locked up at the Doa Police Station’s holding cell from April 29 to May 1.
On May 2, the accused was transferred to the 15-Mile holding cell waiting for the formal arrest to be made.
Piaka was later taken to the Central family and sexual violence unit office for formalities.
He was later interrogated and admitted to committing the alleged offences.
