A HOTEL manager in Port Moresby yesterday denied charges of making dangerous drugs and being in possession of dangerous drugs when he appeared before the district court in Boroko.
Sanctuary Hotel operations manager Jamie Pang, 43, from Sydney in Australia, took his plea before Magistrate Garry Unjo.
He appeared from custody.
Pang told Magistrate Unjo that he knew the reason why he was in the court and pleaded not guilty to both charges.
Police prosecutor Sgt Sendra Holland submitted that the trial should start on Dec 16, which the defence lawyer agreed to.
Magistrate Unjo ordered that Pang remained in custody until his bail application was heard.
Police alleged that on Nov 16, at 6.30am, Pang was at the Sanctuary Hotel when the police and Customs officers taking part in a joint operation, called “Saki Bomb”, conducted a raid using a search warrant.
They saw him at the hotel carpark and served him a search warrant.
He accompanied the officers to search targeted areas inside the hotel premises.
They discovered a mini laboratory used to produce methamphetamine, dangerous drug.
The production was still in progress and Pang admitted that everything found inside the room was his.
He was previously charged with 11 counts of gun possession and is still awaiting sentencing.
