A COURT yesterday granted a K5,000
bail to Sanctuary Hotel operations manager Jamie Pang, who is charged with
being in possession of and for making dangerous drugs (Methamphetamine).
Boroko district court Magistrate Garry Unjo said everyone had the right to
bail, including Pang. He appeared from police custody.
The case will return to court tomorrow.
Pang’s lawyer Simon Nutley submitted that his client had a right to bail.
Magistrate Unjo said Pang would not interfere with the evidence which was now
with the police.
He said Pang had been very cooperative with the police even though he had been
charged previously (with gun-related matters).
Police alleged that on Nov 16 at 6.30am Pang was at his residence at Sanctuary
Hotel when police and customs officers conducted a raid using a search warrant.
They served him the search warrant and searched targeted areas in the hotel
premises.
They found a laboratory used to produce methamphetamine.
Pang admitted that the laboratory and everything there were his.
The officers found 150 grams of a white substance inside a shipping container
which was sent for testing at the PNG Customs facility.
It was found to be methamphetamine (Meth).
