THE case against a woman who pimped out a 12-year-old girl in Port Moresby last year will return on Aug 29 for the State to confirm the charge and witnesses.
Acting judge Laura Wawun-Kuvi at National Court in Waigani yesterday ordered the State to come prepared after she was informed that they were not ready to proceed.
“Informing the court on how many witness State wishes to call will enable the court to decide and allocate how much time it will need to deal with the matter,” she said.
Jenny Omoa, 20, from Orai village in Kairuku, Central, was committed to trial on May 31 after she admitted to setting up an underage female relative to have sex with two men for K100.
Omoa claimed she had got permission from the girl’s mother to offer her to the men for sex in exchange for payment.
State lawyer Violet Ningakun when asked about the status of the case said they are expecting a plea from Omoa.
It was alleged that on Aug 2, 2021, Omoa took the girl to her house at Foodland (3-Mile) to spend the night there.
The next morning Omoa allegedly took her to Unagi Oval in Gordon and met with two men.
One of the men was Omoa’s partner’s brother and the arrangement was for Omoa to give the girl to the men for sex.
The men allegedly gave Omoa K100.
After getting the money, Omoa allegedly told the girl she was going to buy betel nut but never returned.
The men allegedly took the girl to Waigani Bank South Pacific, withdrew cash to buy beer and went to a guesthouse at 5-Mile where they were caught by police who had raided the location in relation to another case.
