Only 85 of 118 seats confirmed on Friday

PORT MORESBY: As of Friday (Aug 5, 2022), the deadline of the return of General Election 2022 (GE2) writs, the Papua New Guinea Election Commission (EC) has only confirmed 85 of the 118 seats contested nationwide.

This means the 11th Parliament is still short of 33 seats.

As of Thursday (Aug 4, 2022), The National was only able to confirm, with detailed results, 69 seats.

Pangu Pati is still leading in GE22 with 27 seats, followed by People’s National Congress (PNC) with 12 seats.

Both National Alliance (NA) and United Resources Party (URP) are on third spot in the seats tally with 5 seats each.

Independents continue to win seats and there are five of them for the 11th Parliament which is scheduled to sit on Tuesday (Aug 9, 2022) for its maiden meeting to elect its Prime Minister.
