THE National Court has given two weeks to the State and the Sanctuary Hotel operations manager Jamie Pang’s lawyer to submit their pre-trial reports.
Acting judge Tracy Ganaii made the order yesterday when Pang, 34, of Sydney, Australia, appeared in court to check on the status of his pre-trial report.
His lawyer David Dotaona asked the court for a week to prepare it.
Acting judge Ganaii then adjourned the case to Sept 6.
Pang, whose third attempt for bail was refused last Thursday, is charged with raping a 20-year-old woman in Port Moresby last year.
Pang was sent for trial by the committal court on July 7 after he chose to remain silent on his declaration statement.
The committal court on May 22 ruled that there was sufficient evidence against Pang to be tried in the National Court for allegedly raping Macki Jack at the hotel on Oct 20, 2021.
Pang was arrested on Feb 21 while detained at the Bomana Detention Centre for breaching his visa condition by being in possession of guns and drugs.
It was alleged that Macki and her friend met Pang on their way up the stairs at Sanctuary hotel.
Macki and her friend stayed at the boyfriend’s room and later brought to Pang’s room.
Pang then allegedly told the others to leave Macki in his room and allegedly forced her to take a drug until she was high.
It was alleged that Pang raped her.
