Cop stabbed while trying to stop fight between Goilala and Goroka settlers

PORT MORESBY: A policeman living in 2-Mile here was stabbed when trying to stop a fight between Goilala and Goroka settlers on Wednesday (April 27,2022) night.

National Capital District Metropolitan Superintendent Gideon Ikumu said the policeman sustained several injuries and was rushed to hospital.

He said the policeman was stabbed three time on the leg.

A POLICEMAN living at 2-Mile in Port Moresby was stabbed when trying to intervene in a fight between Goilala and Goroka settlers on Wednesday night.
National Capital District (NCD) Metropolitan Supt Gideon Ikumu said the policeman sustained several injuries from the stabbing and was rushed to the hospital.
“The policeman was stabbed three times on the leg,” he said
“He was treated and was discharged and he is recovering.”
He said police had visited the 2-Mile community and asked them for a peace mediation.
