Cops given two weeks to serve Sanctuary Hotel’s Jamie Pang with police court briefs

PORT MORESBY: The committal court in Waigani has given the police two weeks to serve its hand up briefs to Sanctuary Hotel operations manager Jamie Pang.

Pang is charged with raping a 20-year-old woman in Port Moresby last year.

Magistrate Paul Puri Nii then asked Pang whether he had anything to say and he said the rape allegation was false.

“The woman knows the whole truth about what happened and she should be here to tell the court.

“I ask the court to please let the justice be done and let me go home to my family. Everything on the police file were lies. I should be released from custody,” he added.

Nii told Pang to file his statement in submission through his lawyer Philip Tabuchi.

On Oct 20, the woman and her friend were picked up by Pang’s driver in Vadavada and taken to the hotel.

On their way, the woman’s friend told her that she was invited by her boyfriend for drinks and had booked a room for them.

It was alleged that the woman and her friend met Pang on their way up the stairs to the hotel room and he welcomed them.

The woman and her friend then stayed in the boyfriend’s room and later brought to Pang’s room.

Pang then allegedly told the others to leave the woman in his room and he allegedly forced her to take drugs until she was high.

It was alleged that Pang allegedly conducted Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) test on the woman before raping her.

Pang’s driver then allegedly brought the victim out to take a taxi home but driver allegedly raped her and dropped her off in the Port Moresby police station

The woman went in to report the rape to a duty officer who then allegedly raped her.

After the alleged rape, the policeman made a video threatening her not to report in and the video went viral.
