personnel, Western End Acting Assistant Commissioner John Kale says.

ground has warned us of the warlords’ threat. We have been informed that the
warlords have buried the bodies of those shot dead by police in their gun

WARLORDS in Tari,
Hela, are planning to attack police again, even though there is an increase in
the number of security forces personnel in the area now, an official says.
Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police in the Highlands’ Western End John Kale
said their sources on the ground had warned them of the warlords’ threat.
“Sources informed police that the warlords have buried the bodies of those shot
by the police during the gun battle over the weekend,” he said.
(They are now) strategising on how and when to attack the police again.
“There is a heavy police presence in Tari (who) are on alert.”
Kale described the warlords as “unpredictable”, attacking people and causing
damage before going into hiding again.
He urged community leaders to assist police in arresting the trouble-makers.
Kale said if the Hela people wanted peace restored, they must help police in
getting the warlords to surrender.
“Peace can be restored in Tari if everyone works with police and (stop) the
attack by the warlords (planned for) the police,” he said.
“(Extra) policemen are in Hela to arrest those involved in the attack and
restore peace.”
Two platoons of soldiers from Port Moresby are in Tari to assist the police.
“Military personnel (were) deployed from Port Moresby to Tari to provide
security to people following the attack by the warlords,” Kale said.
