Malaysian admits to having dangerous drugs

PORT MORESBY: A Malaysian pleaded guilty in a district court in Waigani yesterday to having dangerous drugs.

Two other men and a woman denied the charge of having three bags of Methamphetamine (meth) and 80g of cannabis in a Range View luxurious apartment in Port Moresby.

Magistrate Danny Wakikura read out the charges to Leong Aunfong, 42, from Malaysia’s Pulai in Johor, Tang Kheng Soon, 29, from Kuala Lumpur, Daniel Andil, 32, from Mendi’s Apia village in Southern Highlands and Niaka Viri from Port Moresby’s Korobosea.

A MALAYSIAN pleaded guilty in a district court in Waigani yesterday to having dangerous drugs.
Two other men and a woman denied the charge of having three bags of Methamphetamine (meth) and 80g of cannabis in a Range View apartment in Port Moresby.
Magistrate Danny Wakikura read out the charge to Leong Aunfong 42, from Malaysia’s Pulai in Johor, Tan Kheng Soon, 29, from Kuala Lumpur, Daniel Andi, 32, from Apia village in Mendi Southern Highlands and Niaka Viri from Korobosea in Port Moresby.
Only Aunfong pleaded guilty to the charge while the others claimed trial.
It was alleged that at about 4pm, Andi and Viri took same packages to the PNG Air Freight Limited in 7-Mile in Port Moresby to be cleared as documents.
At 7- Mile, taxi driver Andi allegedly took the package into the office to do clearance while Viri waited in the taxi.
PNG Air Freight Ltd scanned the package which was said to be documents and the scanner identified it as irregular substance.
A staff then called the police at 4.30pm and reported the suspicious person being in possession of some suspicious substance.
Police arrived and arrested Andi who then lead them to Viri who was waiting outside.
Police then discovered 170g of methamphetamine in sealed small packages, packed as documents.
Upon questioning, Viri said the package (document) was filed (packed) by Leong and she was only to get it cleared as documents.
Police then went to Leong’s apartment on the same afternoon and Leong admitted to having the meth and cannabis in his apartment.
He then directed the police to where the three bags of meth and cannabis were.
Police upon searching Leong’s apartment, found Tan upstairs and arrested him.
Wakikura adjourned to today for ruling on bail.
