A WOMAN, charged with killing her aunt whom she suspected of having an affair with her husband, has been given until Jan 14 to file her defence submission in a committal court.
Magistrate Danny Wakikura told Manas Kotis, 32, from Tarabo village in Goroka, Eastern Highlands that she should consult her lawyer as the police fileshad been served. Police alleged on March 4, between 9pm and 10pm in Badiam 1 Settlement, 6-Mile in Port Moresby, Kotis confronted her husband and aunt, Regina Feta, after suspecting them of having an affair which they denied.
She then returned home.
Kotis, her husband and Feta all lived in the same settlement but in different houses. As she was standing at the door way of her house that night, she saw her husband walking to a dark place at the back of another house in the settlement.
She followed her husband to the back of the neighbour’s house and saw him half naked having sexual intercourse with her aunt.
She allegedly got a stick and hit her husband on the back. He got dressed and allegedly attacked her with the same stick.
Feta dressed and also attacked Kotis by punching her.
Kotis then took out a knife in her bilum and stabbed her aunt in the chest.
Feta collapsed and died.
Kotis threw the knife away and fled to a relatives house and later surrendered to the police.
