Man nabbed for killing his wife’s lover

PORT MORESBY: Police have arrested and charged a man with killing man whom he accused of having an affair with his wife in Kokopo.

East New Britain Acting Commander Chief Insp Gabriel Bandy said the suspect was expected to appear before a district court magistrate in Kokopo today (Dec 19, 2022.

Police in Kokopo, East New Britain, have arrested and charged a man for allegedly murdering another man whom he accused of having an affair with his wife.
Acting police commander Chief Insp Gabriel Bandy said the suspect was charged with wilful murder.
Bandy said the suspect is in police custody and is expected to appear before the Kokopo District Court today.
“The suspect is 28 years old and is from Long village in the East-Pomio local level government area in Pomio,” he said.
Bandy confirmed that the incident occurred last Thursday at around 10am at Long village.
He said the suspect was very angry when he found out that the deceased was having an affair with his wife.
“The suspect went to the house of the deceased and attacked him with a sharp bush knife.
“The man slashed and chopped him into pieces,” he said.
“After committing the offence, the suspect surrendered himself to police at the East-Pomio LLG station.
“He was later brought to Kokopo police station on Friday morning.”
Bandy said the body of the deceased was buried on the same day by his relatives because its tissues had been badly damaged from the attack.
Chief insp Bandy said that police investigators were waiting for witnesses to be brought to the Kokopo police station to give their statements.
