A 29-YEAR-OLD man was committed to stand trial in the National Court on two separate cases of raping two minors whom he called “grandsons”.
Magistrate Pious Tapil, last Wednesday, committed Koyari Lester, from Huon’s Bosadi village, Morobe, to appear in the National Court next Monday for his second charge.
His first case is also pending in the National Court.
During the ruling on his second rape case, Magistrate Tapil ruled that there was enough evidence before the court to substantiate the element of the charge.
“The crucial evidence that the court relied on, the medical report, has confirmed the charge and also the age of the victim (11-year-old boy),” he said.
Lester is also alleged to have raped the victim on several occasions.
Magistrate Tapil told Lester that he also had another case pending in the National Court
Lester is alleged to have committed the rapes at Wulnut Street, 1-Mile in Lae, between June 1 and July 31, 2020, and again on Feb 28.
Police informed the court that on one occasion, during the alleged rape, the victim felt pain and tried to free himself but Lester held him tight and told him that he was giving him power.
