“Serious crimes are on the rise in this part of the Bulolo and it is happening almost every week which need to be addressed quickly.
“There has been no arrest yet in murder but we are in the midst of investigations,” he added.
Wau police station commander Senior Inspector Leo Kaikas said such serious crimes were being committed almost every week and police needed to boost their manpower to be able to enforce law effectively.
“Since the exit of policemen due to retirement, we are down on manpower,” he added.
Kaikas appealed to community leaders and the public in Wau town to help police with information that could lead to the arrest of suspected criminals.
“Church groups are doing a fine job in ensuring that the public adhere to the law but our community leaders and influential people also need to help us,” Kaikas added.
