Armed and dangerous glassman on the run

PORT MORESBY: The sorcerer torturer who instigated the brutal attack on five women in Southern Highlands’ Kagua is on the run and is armed and dangerous, commander Chief Insp Daniel Yangen says.

“We have identified him as the main instigator (glassman) following our investigations into the video clip that featured the torture of the five women.

“He wore a Papua New Guinea Defence Force jacket and was seen looking at the women tied to a makeshift bed and shouting at them to admit they were sorcerers,” he added.

THE sorcerer torturer who instigated the brutal attack on five women in Kagua, Southern Highlands, is on the run and is armed and dangerous, provincial police commander Chief Inspector Daniel Yangen says.
“We have identified him as the main instigator (glassman) following our investigations into the video clip that featured the torture of the five women,” he said.
“He wore a Papua New Guinea Defence Force jacket and was seen looking at the women tied to a makeshift bed and shouting at them to admit they were sorcerers.
“He had a rifle with him and had been moving between villages in the province.
“From the video, the two survivors of the vicious attack have identified 10 men, all are from Yawi and Usa villages in Kagua.
“We understand that the man who has been identified had a death in the family and had gone to a man who identified himself as a glassman.
“The glassman had called the names of the women.
“The glassman then went to Yawi and Usa villages and pulled out the five women who were tortured before three of them died from injuries from the torture.
He said the two survivors were being taken care of by the police who were providing care and support.
Yangen said the ward councillors who were aware of the torture of the women had also gone into hiding.
“We continue to investigate this case and we will not stop until we arrest those responsible,” he said.
