THE Central police
command have referred a case against one of their senior officers to the Boroko
sexual offences squad (SOS) for neutrality in investigation as the officer is
accused of impregnating his step-daughter.
Central police commander Superintendent John Midi told The National that
the “victim is now being taken care of and is in a safe house”.
“The senior officer is under police custody and will be brought before the
court once proper investigations are completed,” Midi said.
“He has also been removed from being in contact with the victim so as not to
compromise the victim.
“Initial interviews indicate more charges maybe added.”
According to police information, the step-daughter, who is in grade seven,
stopped going to school in October.
Her mother didn’t think much about it and did not question her.
However, when school resumed this year, the girl refused to go to school and
when pressed, she said that she was pregnant.
When the mother asked who the father was, she alleged that it was the step-father.
The mother took her daughter to her relatives and they all went to the police
station and made a complaint.
The information caught the eye of National Capital District/Central Commander
Assistant Commissioner of Police Anthony Wagambie and Midi.
Police investigations continue.
