A FEMALE college student was stabbed to death by her lover’s wife in Goroka last weekend, according to Eastern Highlands commander Superintendent Michael Welly.
“The first-year Goroka Technical College student died from heavy loss of blood,” Welly said.
He said he could not disclose details of the case as investigators were yet to brief him.
Welly said according to verbal information, the girl was stabbed by the wife of a man alleged to have entered into a sexual relationship with the girl.
“The identity of the dead girl cannot be disclosed at this time pending reports and that the parents of the girl are yet to be informed,” he said.
“Allegations are allegations, and not the truth.
“If you act in provocation on mere allegations and cause death of other person/s, you will only put yourself and family members into deep grief.” Meanwhile, the Goroka Hospital mortuary staff confirmed receiving the body of the girl.
The mortuary attendant, who refused to be named for security reasons, said relatives had been notified.
A college staff yesterday confirmed the murder. “I cannot comment further as the principal and management are the ones who can divulge any information,” the staffer spoke on the condition of anonymity.
Attempts to get a comment from the college principal were unsuccessful.
