TWO men and a woman were killed in a
retaliatory attack in Madang’s Transgogol last week, says commander acting Supt
Mazuc Rubiang.
“The trio were killed in Aufan village,” he said.
“They are believed to have been killed by people from another village.
“Five houses were torched and a high school was closed after the killings.”
Rubiang said the innocent woman tried to stop the attackers when she was shot
on the head.
He said the bodies were sent to the Madang Hospital and would be buried this
week.
“Policemen were deployed this (yesterday) morning and are on the ground. “The
incident had also affected schools in the area,” he added.
Rubiang said the Transgogol High school administration had also closed the
school as most of the staff and students were locals and were related to either
the dead or the killers.
Previous reports by The National concluded that most killings
in this south coast area of Madang were common in this (November to December)
time of the year.
